The Festival of Fireworks Returns to Jaffrey in 2016

The 2016 Festival of Fireworks – Small Town…Big Dreams!

Jaffrey, NH, March 3, 2016 – Four years after the cancellation of the 2012 festival, the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce has announced the return of the twenty-five year summer tradition, The Festival of Fireworks on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Jaffrey Airfield Silver Ranch. The annual event has not lit up the skies in Jaffrey since the 2011 Festival of American Spirit – a pyromusical tribute to the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.

For the past 6 months, organizers of the Festival of Fireworks have worked to develop and improve plans for the return of the Festival to its original home in Jaffrey, NH.  Representatives from Atlas PyroVision Entertainment Group, the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce and the Jaffrey Airfield Silver Ranch have worked closely with Town Officials, Fire Department and Police in Jaffrey to bring back this quarter century tradition.  The Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce Festival Chairman, Cathy Furze, states, “The Jaffrey Chamber is excited to once again work alongside the Jaffrey Airfield Silver Ranch and Atlas PyroVision.  We look forward to working with the Town of Jaffrey and the community to bring back this great family event.”

In light of the reason behind the abrupt cancellation in 2012, there will be improvements to enhance security at the Airfield, including an increase in police at the entrances as well as the outside along Route 124 for traffic control and exiting.  There will also be additional EMT stations at each end of the airpark for an increased response time.

Over the past two years, the festival took place at the Cheshire Fairgrounds in Swanzey, NH.  From this festival venue change came new ideas that will be included in the revitalized Jaffrey Festival of Fireworks. These enhancements include:

  • A new safety and security plan
  • Online ticketing for better planning and crowd estimates
  • Additional volunteers to assist with festival entrance, parking and exiting
  • New procedures and approvals for offsite parking

Harvey and Lee Sawyer, owner of the Silver Ranch Airpark, Inc, commented, “We are excited to once again be part of this unique Jaffrey event and hope we receive a positive response with lots of continued assistance from our community.”

Sarah Bergeron, President of Atlas PyroVision Entertainment Group stated, “Though we were all saddened when the 2012 festival was cancelled, we continued with a smaller festival at the Cheshire Fairgrounds in Swanzey, NH. Through its two year run it never truly had the Jaffrey hometown feel of the Jaffrey Festival of Fireworks. Atlas is excited to once again partner with the Jaffrey Chamber of Commerce and the Jaffrey Airfield Silver Ranch to make this event the best fireworks festival in New England – Small Town…Big Dreams!”
